CARL PALMER: “IAN PAICE ES EL MEJOR” En una breve entrevista en Buenos Aires, en su tour junto a su E L & P Legacy, el legendario baterista Carl Palmer que ademas de haber tocado con Emerson Lake & Palmer, tambien ha sido el baterista de ASIA, y del legendario Chris Farlowe, alla, en la lejana Immediate Records, en los 60`s ¿Qué es lo que vamos a ver en este show y a lo largo de la gira mundial que comenzó? ¿Qué repertorio están tocando? “Vamos a hacer un show de cerca de dos horas, mucha música de Emerson, Lake & Palmer, temas de Tarkus, Fanfare for the Common Man, algo de Pictures of an Exhibition, de Mussorgsky. También adaptamos clásicos como Carmina Burana al sonido del trío, que completan Simon Fitzpatrick y Paul Bielatowicz.al bajo y guitarra respectivamente”. ¿Eres el mejor? “Seguro” (risas). ¿Escuchas nuevos bateristas? “Sí, por supuesto, una vez cada mes hago una lista con diferentes grupos que voy escuchando y de los que me llaman la atención el baterista que tienen”. Y de tu generación, Phil Collins, Nick Mason, Ian Paice… qué opinas, ¿te gustan? “Me gusta Nick Mason, también Phil Collins, pero más cómo canta, pero Ian Paice es el mejor”. ¿Recordas algo de ese supergrupo que se estaba por formar con Jimi Hendrix y E, L & P llamado HELP? “Fue hace mucho, mucho tiempo atrás, a comienzos de 1970. Jamás pasó, se habló y teníamos que juntarnos, no pudimos y al poco tiempo Jimi falleció, pero nunca hablé con él, ni nos juntamos a tocar, nada de eso, hubiese sido una gran experiencia”. ¿Cómo te sentís en lo que va de tu gira por Latinoamérica? “Muy bien, fantástico, el público aquí es grandioso, muy cálido, muy apasionado por la música y así lo demuestra”. ¿Conoces algunos grupos o artistas de Argentina o España? “No muchos realmente, ahora estoy conociendo al grupo que va a tocar de soporte nuestro aquí. De España conozco a los Héroes Del Silencio”.
